Proposition 8

It has become a little bit outdated content, but still, I had to write something about it.

When there was the presidential election, there were also many other propositions going on for people to vote. (I actually don't know how this thing work.)

Either way, one of the most concerned propositions were #8 (in California): Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry.

I was reading several of my friends' blogs, and this one paragraph caught my eyes:

How can in the same stroke people decide that the color of someone's skin is not a concern, but who they choose to love IS?! Do they not see discrimination is discrimination, no matter what the particular target is?? Saying gays can't marry is the SAME THING as saying whites and blacks can't marry! No progress has been made in civil rights! What's really being said is that gays are less than human, and that's sick.
It made me think... then how about marriage between blood-related man and woman? I know this is kind of extreme, but say, cousins are not allowed to marry in the States. I just asked my husband "what do you think of someone marrying his/her cousin?" He said, it's not good, it's considered incest, etc.

So according to my friend, discrimination is discrimination, no matter what the particular target is.

I wonder, would she feel anything about incest then? Even though marriage between cousins are not allowed, it is certainly accepted in some countries. As long as they love each other, and they agree not to have kids (because genetically it'll produce inferior children and that's just wrong for the children), ... what is wrong with it? Would she have psychological hatred, just like people who voted
"Yes" on Prop 8 had towards gays?

Some car I saw on the way to my work right after the election.
